How it's done

Our Grinding Process

Grinding done right is a sequence, not a pass with a machine. Here's how a slab goes from contaminated to coating-ready.

Assessing concrete slab condition before dustless grinding
Step 01

Assess the Slab

We identify what's on your concrete, glue, thin-set, coatings, sealers, and test hardness so the right diamond tooling goes on the machine.

Step 02

Lock Down the Dust

The grinder runs tethered to industrial HEPA vacuum collection, capturing dust at the source before it ever reaches your air, inventory, or equipment.

Step 03

Grind & Remove

Planetary diamond heads take the surface down in controlled passes, stripping contaminants and leveling high spots without gouging the slab.

Step 04

Profile & Verify

The slab is finished to the exact CSP profile your next system needs, whether that's a coating, an overlay, polish, or new flooring.

The equipment matters

Planetary Grinding, Not a Rental-Counter Buffer

Our HTC 800 planetary grinder runs multiple diamond heads rotating in tandem, which is what separates a flat, evenly profiled slab from the swirls and dips a single-head rental machine leaves behind.

  • Handles what shot blasting can't: coatings over 8 mils, thick thin-set, and stubborn adhesives
  • Interchangeable diamond tooling matched to your slab's hardness and what's stuck to it
  • Integrated HEPA dust collection for a virtually dust-free job, safe for food facilities, clean rooms, and occupied buildings
  • Sets up the next step: coating, polish, overlay, or flooring, ground to the profile the spec sheet demands

Clean Enough to Work Around

Dustless grinding means your operation doesn't stop for the floor. We phase around your hours, protect what stays in the space, and leave the slab vacuumed and ready for whatever comes next. Most residential garages grind in a day, and commercial areas are scoped and scheduled zone by zone.

Our promise
"If grinding isn't the right method for your slab, we'll say so."

Some jobs call for shot blasting instead. Some slabs have moisture or contamination problems no grinder can fix. We run multiple prep methods, so our recommendation is based on what your floor needs, not on the one machine we happen to own.

Good questions

Dustless Grinding FAQ

Is it really dust-free?
Virtually. The grinder runs tethered to industrial HEPA vacuum collection that captures dust at the source, which is why we can work in food facilities, clean rooms, occupied offices, and homes without covering everything you own in concrete dust.
Can you remove glue, mastic, and thin-set?
Yes, that's a core use. Carpet glue, tile mastic, thick thin-set, and failed coatings all come off with the right diamond tooling. Pricing depends on what's actually on the slab and how thick it is, which is why we assess before we quote.
Grinding or shot blasting, which do I need?
Grinding handles thick coatings, adhesives, and precision profiles. Shot blasting is faster on large open areas with lighter coatings. We run both and match the method to your slab, so you don't have to guess.
Can you level an uneven floor?
Grinding knocks down high spots, lippage, and surface irregularities. Deep low spots need filling rather than grinding, and we'll flag which your floor has during the assessment.
Do you grind residential garages too?
Yes. Grinding is the first step of every garage floor coating we install, and we also grind for homeowners prepping for their own flooring project. Most garages take about a day.
What happens after the grind?
Whatever your project needs. We can install epoxy and polyaspartic coating systems ourselves, or hand off a spec-profiled slab to your flooring contractor. Either way, the surface will be ready.
